Sounds like: Hank Sr. meets Dylan if he'd written more country music,
and Southern border towns meets the snow falling on the frosty shores of
Lake Superior.
Tom VandenAvond is big-voiced son of a gun who can still lull you sleep with a soft, soft lullaby now and again.
He's toured the country extensively and continues to bring driving trucker's anthems, and ballads that make the
ladies swoon to a bar near you. He's got a myspace page you can visit and see what that rascal is up to.

A Gambler's Prayer is a traveling album consisting of tracks recorded all over the map.
From Oakdale and Knights Ferry, California, to Austin and Elgin, Texas, to Madrid, Spain,
Tom spent about a year rambling around recording tracks wherever there was a record-a-ma-bob machine.
As usual you'll hear that old familiar gravely voice that just makes you happy music still has some honest folks doin' it.

This is the debut,
self-titled, self-produced, offering from Mr. VandenAvond. It features some
gritty, raw talent by Tom and is adorned with some nice work from a few of
his buddies from Austin's finest; The Weary Boys.

Tom is a 52-week club founder and lifer,
and a right likeable scoundrel. However, as of this writing
Tom has run out of the second printing and it is still out of stock,
hopefully not out of print for good though.
